CALEB MCKELVEY, Project Coordinator
How did you get your start in the print industry? How long have you worked in print?
I started in 2019 when a friend from the music scene told me about a job opening at a screen printing shop.
What drew you to the print industry?
By definition, it's an incredibly creative field. Every job starts as an idea in someone's head and ends as the physical representation of that idea.
In your opinion, what sets ProGraphix apart?
The cohesion within the team is incredible. We know how to joke around with each other, so when things get hectic, we know how to communicate and still keep smiles on everybody's faces.
What does a typical day look like for you?
In the mornings, I make a cup of tea and start working on proofing projects. By midday, deliveries start coming in, projects start going out, and emails start flying at top speed. By the end of the day, I'm usually back to proofing and prepping things for the next day.
What has been your most memorable moment at ProGraphix so far?
One day, while looking at a scrap of metallic gold cut vinyl, I joked about using the leftovers to create a graphic reading "#1 Baller." When I came in the next morning, Jim [ProGraphix Production Manager] had made it a reality on my office window, and I've been balling ever since.
What is a favorite project you've worked on?
I think the full building wrap at Jo's Coffee on South Congress during F1 weekend was the coolest project I've seen so far. I had just recently started watching the sport, so coordinating a massive installation for Mercedes was really exciting.
What do you like to do in your spare time (outside of work)?
I play music with friends, cook, and watch a lot of movies.
Are you involved in any outside organizations or volunteer work?
I'm a founder of the High Brow Domino Club and a card-carrying member of the Cabo Bob's frequent burrito buyers' coalition.
What is a favorite quote/motto/motivation?
“The mystery of life isn't a problem to solve, but a reality to experience.” - Frank Herbert
What’s a book or podcast you’d recommend to others and why?
Supernatural Strategies for Making a Rock 'n' Roll Group by Ian Svenonius is brief, dryly hilarious, and devastatingly insightful for anyone who has ever picked up an instrument.
What is a fun fact about you?
Mustard is the best condiment, ranch is the worst - sorry haters!
